(July 2, 1997 - October 27, 2000)

Claudia was full of life. Always active and never frightened of anybody, she was the center of our home. She was only 3 years old, but brought so much love and affection from the first day we had her. Great is our grief and disbelief - she deserved better things in life.

Thank you Claudia for those 3 wonderful years.

Sundance was a beautiful red Somali boy that we adopted from S.A.B.R.E. along with his companion cat Lexi. They had been rehomed several times because of his habit of defecating outside the litterbox. This wasn't a big deal to us. We didn't mind cleaning up after him and were pleased to give him a home where he could stay for the rest of his life. The rest of his life ended up being 4 months because he developed FIP.

He had a short but wonderful life. He was loved!

They will not go quietly,
the cats who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

She was a stray kitten that showed up on our front porch. She was tested, isolated, and retested as we have always done with new comers. She was fine when she was released with the other cats. She was fine until we had her spayed. Two weeks later, she got sick. It was FIP. By the way, she never had a titer. She was a sweet, loving kitten.

Melinda was a stray kitten that showed up at our house with one of her littermates. When Moqui joined our family as a kitten, Melinda adopted him. They were so close, even after he grew up. FIP took her away. A year later, he joined her, also a victim of FIP

Meggin and Mindi were born September 17, 1999. They were sisters. Megan was put down on March 27, 2000, she was a silver and white Manx. Mindi was put down on March 29, 2000, she was black and white. Both kittens were put down diagnosed with FIP based on a high corona virus titer listed on the laboratory printout as an FIP titer. Their symptoms were diarrhea and poor weight gain.

These two sweet girls were owned by a loving family who now have two more kittens from Sansq.  Their new babies are happy fat and thriving, cared for by another veterinarian.

Mariposa and Dinah were Devon Rex hybrid kittens (cross between American Shorthair and Devon Rex). Ironically, the reason they were bred was to add hybrid health and vigor to our Devons. They were special from the very first moment they drew breath. Funny looking little things when you are used to Devons. Mariposa was the first to by diagnosed with fluid in her chest. We were hopeful that the illness was not FIP when she had a two month remission. I bonded very closely to her during this time and she was my little butterfly, my Posie Poza.

Dinah fell ill suddenly with fluid in her abdomen. She failed quickly and within a few days of her death Mariposa also had fluid in her abdomen. We lost this precious gift less than two weeks later. We will always remember the impish little girls - Devons in odd coats.
